The definition of Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, or ICBT, an approach to counseling designed for couples that co-habitate.
Integrative behavioral couples therapy (ICBT) is an approach to counseling designed for couples that cohabitate. BCT is commonly used for couples suffering from alcoholism or drug abuse. The first sessions of ICBT focus on evaluation. Once the couple understands more about why they’re seeking therapy and how it can help, the active phase of therapy begins. Here, the therapist helps each person communicate in an open, clear, and direct way to help the couple deal with various struggles and improve interactions.
