The presenter will review the history of discrimination of the LGBTQIA+ community in the US, discuss unique stressors that lead clients to therapy and discuss tangible ways to support clients seeking support in counseling.
Objectives:

- Increase understanding of the unique stressors faced by the LGBQIA+ community
- Challenge heteronormative assumptions and recognize how these may be harmful to clients from the LGBTQIA+ community
- Learn actionable steps to increase support to clients from the LGBTQIA+ community
About the Speaker:
Dr. Jennifer Crofts received her doctorate degree from Wright State University’s School of Professional Psychology. Throughout her career she has had experience working in a variety of settings including community mental health clinics, college campuses, disability services and most recently in private practice in the state of Florida. Dr. Crofts specializes in the provision of bilingual mental health services to marginalized populations including people with disabilities, LGBT+ community & POC.
